The Compendium is now available, and here's a summary thread on X.

Public discourse on artificial intelligence remains fractured. We lack an understanding of the crisis we face, with discussions scattered across technical, policy, and philosophical domains that fail to explain the central challenge we face: stopping the race to artificial general intelligence (AGI) before it's too late.

Released today, The Compendium fills this gap. It is a comprehensive guide that explains why artificial general intelligence poses an extinction risk to humanity, how we got here, why this problem is urgent and hard, and what humanity can do about it.

Through eight sections, The Compendium:

• Examines the current state of AI progress and why it leads to AGI

• Explains why creating AGI will likely lead to superintelligent systems beyond human control

• Shows why current technical safety efforts and governance proposals are inadequate

• Maps the ideological forces and race dynamics driving the uncontrolled race towards AGI

• Outlines practical steps for reducing these risks through communication, coordination, and civic engagement

The Compendium is a natural companion to  "A Narrow Path," which offers a plan to deal with AI extinction risk, prevent superintelligence development and build a flourishing future for humanity.

We encourage you to read The Compendium and share it with others who want to understand the AI situation, the risks we face, and what the path forward looks like.

It is a living document that will be updated as the landscape changes.
