About Us
ControlAI is a non-profit working to prevent the risk of human extinction posed by runaway machine intelligence.
In just over a year, we have briefed over 250 congressional offices, consulted on the first bill to ban runaway machine intelligence ever introduced in the U.S. Congress. We have mobilized more than 50,000 supporters to send over 200,000 messages to their lawmakers, most of them in the U.S. Our work has been covered in media outlets including the BBC, CNN and Fox News.
In the past 2 years, across the U.S., UK, Canada and Germany, we've briefed over 400 lawmakers and over 200 support our campaigns recognizing extinction risk from AI and calling for action on runaway machine intelligence.
Our focus
Nobel Prize winners, leading AI experts and even the CEOs of major AI companies have warned that runaway machine intelligence poses an extinction risk for humanity. Yet, most decision-makers and most of the public are still in the dark about these risks.
ControlAI exists to change this. We help hundreds of thousands of people understand where AI is going, and take civic action to secure their future. We do this across all democratic institutions, from lawmakers to the media, civil society, and the public. We operate like a startup: clear objectives, measurable goals, and real-world results over long-term research.
