Call to Ban Superintelligence

Following a wave of rogue AI incidents and resignations from AI companies over superintelligence, Alex Sobel MP and a cross-party coalition of 70+ lawmakers have written to the Prime Minister, urging the government to act on the threat posed by superintelligence.

At home, the government should engage with ControlAI's UK Artificial Superintelligence Security Bill, the first bill to ban superintelligence ever introduced in any legislature around the world.

A domestic ban is a necessary first step, but it does not address superintelligence developed abroad. The UK should leverage its 2027 G20 presidency to secure an international agreement prohibiting superintelligence development anywhere in the world.
