Our Work in Westminster
In September 2026, ControlAI’s Artificial Superintelligence Security Bill was introduced in the House of Commons as a Ten-Minute Rule Bill. With cross-party backing, it is the first bill in any legislature in the world to address the security and extinction risk posed by superintelligent AI. More than 85 parliamentarians from both Houses have called on the Prime Minister to evaluate and adopt it.
Alongside a domestic ban on superintelligent AI, the Bill sets an international policy for the UK to pursue an international agreement to prevent the development of superintelligent AI worldwide.
We have also advised on amendments, including last-resort, or “kill switch”, powers that would enable the Government direct the shutdown of UK data centres or models during AI-related emergencies.
